The US B1/B2 visa is decided at the interview. A strong file helps, but how clearly you explain your trip and your ties to Pakistan matters just as much. We prepare you for both.
This checklist is for Pakistani passport holders applying from Pakistan. If you live in another country, the process and documents can be different.
What the U.S. government requires
- A valid passport, valid for at least six months beyond your stay in the US
- The DS-160 online application, with the confirmation page printed for your interview
- A photo that meets the U.S. photo requirements, uploaded with the DS-160
- The visa application fee receipt
- An interview at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate in Karachi (fingerprints are usually taken there)
Supporting documents the officer may ask for
- Evidence of the purpose of your trip, such as a hotel booking or an invitation
- Evidence that you will leave the US after your visit, such as your job, business, family and property in Pakistan
- Evidence that you can pay for the trip, such as bank statements and income records
- Your previous passports and travel history
Good to know
- According to travel.state.gov, a letter of invitation or an affidavit of support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. Your own ties to Pakistan matter more.
- The current visa fee is shown on the official U.S. visa website. Pay it before you book your interview.
- Answer simply and honestly at the interview. Officers often decide within a few minutes.
