One Schengen visa lets you visit 29 European countries. You apply to the country where you will spend the most time, or the country you enter first if your days are equal.
This checklist is for Pakistani passport holders applying from Pakistan. If you live in another country, the process and documents can be different.
What the EU Schengen rules require
- A completed and signed Schengen visa application form
- A photo that meets ICAO standards
- A passport valid for at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages
- Travel medical insurance covering emergency care, hospital treatment and repatriation, with at least EUR 30,000 cover
- Supporting documents for the purpose of your trip, your accommodation and your financial means
- Fingerprints, taken when you apply
- The visa fee (EUR 90 for adults)
Supporting documents usually asked
- Return flight reservation and hotel bookings, or an invitation from your host
- A day-by-day travel plan
- Bank statements and proof of income
- A job letter with approved leave, or business documents such as NTN and tax returns
- Your previous passports and travel history
Good to know
- Apply to the consulate of the country where you will spend the most time, or the first country you enter if your days are equal.
- You can apply up to 6 months before travel and at least 15 days before. Apply 4 to 6 weeks ahead in busy seasons.
- Each embassy may ask for extra documents, so we always check the checklist of the specific country.
