Georgia is a popular short trip for Pakistani travellers, with Tbilisi, Batumi and the Caucasus mountains all within a few days’ reach. The visa side is less simple than many people expect. A Pakistani passport on its own does not give visa-free entry, and the online e-visa is only open to some Pakistani applicants. This guide explains the three routes, based on the Georgian government’s own websites.
Route 1: Visa-free entry if you already hold certain visas
Georgian Government Ordinance No. 256 lets holders of a valid visa or residence permit from a list of countries enter Georgia without a Georgian visa and stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The list includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Australia, most EU and Schengen states, and Gulf countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. The visa or permit must be valid on the day you enter Georgia.
There is an important extra condition for Pakistani citizens. The Embassy of Georgia in the UAE states that citizens of a group of countries, Pakistan included, can use a UAE visa for visa-free entry only if it is a multiple-entry visa valid for at least one year at the time of crossing the border. The ordinance was amended in April 2025, so check the current rule for the visa you hold before you book.
Route 2: Georgian e-visa (only with a Schengen or OECD visa or residence)
The official e-visa portal, evisa.gov.ge, lists Pakistan among the countries whose citizens can apply online only if they hold a valid supporting document. That means one of these:
- a valid Schengen visa
- a valid visa of an OECD member country
- a valid residence permit of a Schengen or OECD country
If you have none of these, the e-visa is not an option for you. Payment is made online by card and the approved e-visa is printed and carried with you.
For a tourist e-visa the portal asks for:
- a biometric photo
- a copy of your passport
- a copy of your supporting visa or residence permit
- proof of accommodation, such as a hotel booking
- a return flight ticket (if you travel by air)
- travel and health insurance
- proof of enough money for the trip
Route 3: Ordinary sticker visa through an embassy
Pakistani travellers who do not qualify for Route 1 or Route 2 need an ordinary visa from a Georgian embassy or consulate. Use the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular portal, geoconsul.gov.ge, to find the mission that handles applications from Pakistan and to book an appointment. Ask the mission for its current document list and fee, as these are set by each embassy.
At the border
Whichever route you use, the e-visa portal reminds travellers that they must be able to show their documents at the Georgian border. Keep these printed and ready:
- passport
- the visa or residence permit you are relying on, or your Georgian e-visa
- hotel booking
- return ticket
- travel and health insurance
- bank statement or other proof of funds
Common mistakes
- Assuming a single-entry or short UAE visa is enough. For Pakistani citizens the UAE visa must be multiple-entry and valid for at least a year.
- Booking flights before checking which route applies to you.
- Travelling with an expired supporting visa. It must be valid on the day of entry.
- Paying unofficial websites for an e-visa. Apply only on evisa.gov.ge.

Once your visa route is clear, you can compare flights on our flights page and hotels in Tbilisi or Batumi on our hotels page. Many travellers combine Georgia with a stopover in the Gulf.
