Egypt Visa for Pakistanis 2026: How to Apply and What to Prepare

Egypt is high on many Pakistani travellers’ lists, from the pyramids at Giza to the temples of Luxor and the Red Sea coast. The first thing to know is that the Egyptian e-visa is not open to Pakistani passport holders, so the visa has to be arranged another way. This guide explains what the official sources say and how to prepare a clean application.

Can Pakistanis use the Egypt e-visa?

No. Egypt’s official e-visa portal, visa2egypt.gov.eg, publishes the list of nationalities that may be issued an e-visa on application. Pakistan is not on that list. Any website that offers Pakistani passport holders an “instant Egypt e-visa” should be treated with caution.

For reference, the portal’s tourist e-visa fees for eligible nationalities are US$30 for a single entry and US$65 for multiple entries, and it asks travellers to apply at least 7 days before departure. These figures do not apply to a Pakistani passport.

How Pakistanis apply

Pakistani citizens apply for a tourist visa through the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Islamabad, or the Egyptian mission that covers your city, before travelling. Requirements, fees and processing times are set by the embassy and can change, so contact the mission directly for its current checklist before you prepare your file.

Documents to prepare

Embassies usually ask for a standard set of documents for a tourist visa. Have these ready, then match them to the embassy’s own list:

  • passport with at least 6 months’ validity from your arrival date (the same rule the e-visa portal sets for all travellers)
  • completed visa application form and recent photos
  • copy of your CNIC
  • return flight reservation
  • hotel booking for your full stay
  • bank statement showing enough funds for the trip
  • employment letter or business documents, to show your ties to Pakistan
  • previous travel history, if you have it

A clear travel plan, matching dates on every document and a bank statement that supports the trip all help your file.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to apply on the e-visa portal with a Pakistani passport
  • Booking non-refundable flights before the visa is approved
  • Hotel dates that do not match the flight dates
  • A passport with less than 6 months of validity left
  • Paying unofficial agents who promise guaranteed approval

Planning the trip

Cairo is the usual starting point, with Giza a short drive away. Luxor and Aswan are best reached by internal flight, train or a Nile cruise. Summer days in Upper Egypt are very hot, so many visitors prefer the cooler months from October to April. When your visa is sorted, compare fares on our flights page and hotels in Cairo, Luxor or Hurghada on our hotels page.
