The UK Standard Visitor visa covers tourism, family visits and short business trips of up to 6 months. Most refusals come from weak finances or unclear ties to Pakistan, so that is where we put our attention.
This checklist is for Pakistani passport holders applying from Pakistan. If you live in another country, the process and documents can be different.
What GOV.UK requires
- A passport valid for the whole of your stay in the UK
- The Standard Visitor visa application, completed online on GOV.UK
- A biometrics appointment at a UK visa application centre in Pakistan, where your fingerprints and photo are taken
- Evidence that you will leave the UK at the end of your visit
- Evidence that you can support yourself and pay for your return journey (someone else can fund this)
- Certified English translations of any documents that are not in English
Supporting documents applicants from Pakistan usually submit
- Bank statements and proof of income
- A job letter with approved leave and salary slips, or business documents such as NTN and tax returns
- Proof of family and property ties in Pakistan
- An invitation letter and your host’s UK status documents if you are visiting family
- Your previous passports and travel history
Good to know
- GOV.UK says you will usually get a decision within 3 weeks of your biometrics appointment.
- The UK does not publish one fixed checklist for visitors. The officer looks at your whole situation, so documents that clearly show your purpose and your ties to Pakistan matter most.
