The Maldives is a favourite for honeymoons and family holidays, and Pakistani passport holders do not have to apply for a visa before they fly. That does not mean you can arrive with nothing. Immigration officers check your papers at the airport, so prepare them properly.
Visa on arrival
According to the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tourist visas are issued on arrival in the Maldives. You still need to meet the entry conditions below, and the final decision is made by the immigration officer at the port of entry.
What you need to carry
- A passport with a machine readable zone, valid for at least one month. Children need their own passport.
- A confirmed and prepaid booking at a registered hotel or resort
- Proof that you have enough money for your stay, or a visa sponsorship approved by Maldives Immigration beforehand
- A complete itinerary with confirmed return tickets
- The entry requirements of your next destination, if you are travelling onward
- A yellow fever certificate, only if it applies to your route
IMUGA traveller declaration
Every visitor fills in the IMUGA declaration online. It is free of charge and can be submitted up to 96 hours (four days) before you arrive. Use the official Maldives Immigration portal only, and be careful of websites that ask for a fee.
Common mistakes
- Booking a guesthouse or hotel that is not registered
- Having no proof of funds ready to show
- Forgetting to carry a printout of the return ticket and hotel confirmation
- Waiting until the airport to fill in the declaration
Plan your trip
Start with the stay, since the hotel booking is part of your entry papers. You can compare places on our hotels page, and look at flights from Pakistan on the flights page. For the official Pakistani guidance, see the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notice for Pakistanis visiting the Maldives.
