Istanbul, Cappadocia and Antalya are high on many Pakistani travel lists. Before you book, you need to know which visa route applies to you, because the e-visa is not open to everyone.
E-visa or sticker visa?
Turkey offers an online e-visa, but a Pakistani passport alone does not qualify. As far as the official rules stand, you must already hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, the UK, Ireland or a Schengen country. If you do not have one, you apply for a sticker visa at a Turkish consulate or authorised visa centre. Always check the current conditions on the official portal, evisa.gov.tr, before you pay for anything.
Documents for the e-visa route
- Passport valid for at least six months beyond your trip
- Your valid US, UK, Irish or Schengen visa or residence permit
- Hotel booking and return ticket
- Email address and a card for the official fee
Documents for the sticker visa
- Passport with blank pages and recent photographs
- Completed application form and appointment confirmation
- Hotel booking and flight reservation
- Recent bank statements and proof of income
- Travel insurance for the dates of your stay
Common mistakes
Many people use unofficial websites that charge high service fees. Others book flights first and then discover they do not qualify for the e-visa. Keep the order simple: confirm your route, collect your documents, apply, and only then book non refundable tickets.
Processing time
E-visa decisions can be quick for eligible travellers, while a consulate visa takes longer and depends on the season. Apply well ahead of your travel date and do not plan around the shortest time you have heard of.
Plan the rest of the trip
Once the visa is sorted, look at flights from Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad on our flights page and compare places to stay on the hotels page.
